We provide specialized rehabilitation services for people suffering with Back and Neck pain, sports and work injuries, neurological disorders, shoulder disorders, dizziness and balance disorders, and other orthopedic problems. We also have a Neuropathy Treatment Program and a Fall Prevention Program. People with these conditions are typically looking for experienced specialists who are uniquely qualified to solve simple and complex conditions involving the human musculoskeletal and neurological systems.
Our therapists are experienced clinicians and teachers with advanced clinical competencies and expertise to solve even the most complex orthopedic or neurological condition, We utilize the most advanced, scientifically validated treatment options available in our problem oriented approach. This approach of combining research with clinical experience results in superior outcomes for our patients.
Neuropathy Treatment Program
Our Peripheral Neuropathy program uses a technology called monochromatic infrared light which relieves the pain, numbness, and tingling associated with this disorder. Our program design is based on the research protocols that recommend treatment 3 times a week for a minimum of 4 weeks using a combination of infrared light and therapeutic exercise. Therapeutic techniques used include stretching, strengthening, and balance training. Download or request our Free Brochure about Peripheral Neuropathy for additional information.
Dizziness and Balance Treatment
Dizziness and Balance disorders can be caused by a problem in the part of your inner ear called the Vestibular System. The Vestibular System is responsible for sensing motion and maintaining balance. Disorders in this system can result in sensations of vertigo (the room spinning), light-headedness, imbalance, and difficulty walking. There has been extensive research into rehabilitation of the Vestibular System and there are specialized exercises and movements that can relieve these symptoms and restore balance. Treatment of the Vestibular System takes extensive training and all therapists at Creative Therapy have received training in these techniques. Treatment of Back Pain
We see hundreds of patients every year with back pain. Pain can occur in the low back area or radiate down the leg. Sometimes weakness can even occur in the leg due to pressure on the spinal nerves. There are many physical therapy approaches to the treatment of back pain, but at Creative Therapy, we use a highly specialized system called the mechanical treatment approach (Also referred to as the McKenzie Approach). A mechanical treatment approach to the spine takes years of continuing education to learn and we have found it to be highly effective to rapidly reverse pain and promote healing. We incorporate movement, postural alignment, and specific stretches to reduce stress on the spine, relieve pain fast, and heal the condition. Download or request our Free Brochure on Treatment of Back Pain for more info about treatment options that can reduce your pain and get you back to your normal activities.
Treatment of Neck Pain and Headaches
We see hundreds of patients every year with neck pain. Pain can occur in the neck area but most people don't know that the neck can commonly refer pain into the shoulder-blade area, the face and down the arm. Sometimes weakness can even occur in the arm due to pressure on the spinal nerves. The neck can also refer pain into the head causing headaches or problems in the neck can trigger migraines. Effective treatment of the cervical spine can eliminate headaches or reduce the severity or frequency of migraines. There are many physical therapy approaches to the treatment of neck pain, but at Creative Therapy, we use a highly specialized system called the mechanical treatment approach (Also referred to as the McKenzie Approach). A mechanical treatment approach to the spine takes years of continuing education to learn and we have found it to be highly effective to rapidly reverse pain and promote healing. We incorporate movement, postural alignment, and specific stretches to reduce stress on the spine, relieve pain fast, and heal the condition. Fall Prevention Program
Falls are the main reason why older people lose their independence and knowing whether or not you are at risk is an important first step toward decreasing your risk factors. The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) has been tracking falls in community-dwelling elderly people for many years and has developed recommendations for grading fall risk and the best treatment to reduce falls. At Creative Therapy, you will receive a Fall Risk Score that will tell you whether you are a high fall risk and compare your score to others in your age range. We will also track this score over time to monitor improvement.
To reduce falls, based on newly released research, the CDC recommends the Otago Program. The Otago Program has been shown to reduce falls by 35%, which is significantly higher than any other fall prevention program. The therapists at Creative Therapy have received special training in the delivery of the Otaga Program and have completed extensive research into fall prevention and fall risk factors. The Otaga Program is an individually tailored balance, strength, and walking program that is started in the physical therapy setting and continued at home. Benefits of the Otaga Program include decreased risk of falling; improved strength; increased ability to climb stairs; increased ease of standing from chairs; and improved balance. Treatment of Shoulder Pain
The most common shoulder problems are tendinitis, bursitis, rotator cuff problems, and frozen shoulder. These conditions are closely related and may occur alone or in combination. If the rotator cuff and bursa are irritated, inflamed, and swollen, they may become squeezed within the shoulder joint. This causes tendinitis of the rotator cuff and it may vary from mild inflammation to severe involvement of the entire rotator cuff. When the rotator cuff tendons become inflamed and thickened, they may get trapped under the tip of the collar-bone. This squeezing of the rotator cuff is very common and is called Impingement Syndrome. Impingment Syndrome can lead to frozen shoulder if not treated early and specific exercises are required to correct this. Specialized mobilization techniques may also be required to correct alignment and increase mobility.
Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson's Disease, and Gait Disorders are common problems treated at Creative Therapy Resource. Neurological disorders require a through understanding of how the brain, spinal cord, and our muscles interact to create the movements we take for granted every day. Walking is a complex movement involving many systems, but it can be improved with specific stretching and strengthening activities. Using the most up to date research, we provide individualized treatment plans to maximize function for people with Neurological Conditions.
